“ I consider land to be an archive of its own history. The land itself holds human story. My work is about place and our connection to it as human beings. I use dirt, clay, and soil from land that means something. I construct paintings, books, and small sculptures to document, preserve, and perpetuate story.

The making of art artifacts began with a 5 gallon bucket of dirt I took from 7 acres of our land in Pike Road, Alabama. This piece of dirt my family called home begat two large paintings as artifacts from this place - our story held in the very dirt the paintings are made from. Their physical presence and expression strengthen our connection to each other and to place. They remind us of the past and call us to ‘remember the future’."
